Preview: Manchester United vs Burnley
Manchester United will return to action on Tuesday night when they take on Burnley at Turf Moor, hoping to leapfrog Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.
They are currently second in the top-flight standings, having secured ten victories from 16 matches to be level on points with Jurgen Klopp’s side who have now suffered two draws and one defeat in their last three league matches.
After suffering a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side bounced back with a victory in the FA Cup against Watford, with Scott McTominay’s bouncing header sending them into the fourth round of the competition.
It was far from a vintage performance from the Red Devils, but at least they secured the desired result to progress to the next round.
Meanwhile, Burnley are also in very good form, with Sean Dyche’s side making great progress since the 5-0 thrashing at Manchester City.
In their previous league outing, the Clarets claimed a 1-0 victory over Sheffield United, with Captain Ben Mee scoring the winning goal.
They also emerged victorious against MK Dons in the FA Cup on Saturday, with Matej Vydra providing the equalizer in injury time and his side going on to prevail on penalties in the end.
The Clarets are currently placed 15th at the league table, securing 16 points after four victories and four draws.
Their players Charlie Taylor, Jay Rodriguez and Kevin Long are all expected to miss the home encounter, while the Turf Moor fans will be hoping that Nick Pope can return to the team soon.
As for United, Paul Pogba, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw are all expected to return to the first team after missing the Watford match due to injuries. While Eric Bailly is a doubt after suffering a neck injury during Saturday’s fixture.
