Man loses tooth after eating KFC with ceramic tile hidden inside
An unhappy KFC customer had to have a tooth removed after biting into a piece of ceramic tile wedged inside his chicken.
The man – who doesn’t want to be named – was enjoying a boneless box meal he bought from a branch in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, when he suddenly felt like he’d bitten down on a ‘massive stone’.
He says he cracked his tooth ‘right down the root’ and was left in serious pain that kept on getting worse.
A few days later, the unhappy customer booked to see a dentist and was told he had to have the tooth taken out.
Having paid £72 for his treatment, the man was left with a ‘massive hole’ in the back of his mouth.
After calling the Birchin Way branch to complain and getting no answer, the man says he emailed KFC and was only told they had ‘done and investigation and made everyone aware’.
He added: ‘Then, they just threw a £20 voucher at me. My meal cost £18 so it’s like they gave me £2 for losing my tooth and to be in pain for two weeks.
‘What a vile and disgusting way to treat someone. I feel like they have just caused this damage and don’t care – it really gets me upset.
The man ordered his KFC through UberEats on October 24 and received his £20 voucher on November 20 in response to his complaint.
He added: ‘I can’t even leave the house at the moment because I’ve got a massive hole where my tooth was and with the cold weather, it’s killing me.’
After more than a month of emails with KFC, the man says he has now been asked to send them the piece of tile.
He added: ‘They have sent a parcel out to collect the piece to have it examined. It seems like KFC are just delaying the situation hoping I give up.’
A KFC spokesperson said: ‘It goes without saying that it shouldn’t have been in there, but this is an isolated incident and our team are following up closely to find out exactly what happened.
‘In the meantime, we’ve reached out and are working closely with the guest to make this right.’
