Report reveals argument broke out between Spurs duo at half-time against Chelsea
If there was one overriding theme from Amazon’s All or Nothing documentary about the cultural change Jose Mourinho was trying to implement among the Spurs squad, it was the insistence for the players to be nastier and more demanding of each rather.
The Spurs boss appeared to be pleased in the documentary when an argument broke out in the dressing room between Dele Alli and Eric Dier following Tottenham’s 2-3 loss against Wolves at home last season.
Mourinho even termed the altercation between Hugo Lloris and Son Heung-min at half-time against Everton as ‘beautiful’.
It looks as though the Tottenham players are slowly but surely adopting the kind of mentality Mourinho wants as a report from Football.London reveals that there was plenty of criticism being thrown around on the pitch during Spurs’ 0-0 draw against Chelsea.
Alasdair Gold, who was at Stamford Bridge to cover the game, revealed in the article that Serge Aurier and Moussa Sissoko were involved in an animated argument about their positioning as they walked into the dressing room at half-time.
Furthermore, he also revealed that Joe Rodon, who was making his first start for the club, was quite vocal and at times shouted at Aurier to get back into position and instructed him on where to move.
Rodon himself was also on the receiving end of Mourinho and Joao Sacramento’s wrath when the centre-back gave the ball away upfield, which resulted in an offside Timo Werner putting it into the back of the net.
Gold also revealed that Sergio Reguilon got an earful from the Tottenham bench when he was caught upfield in the second half and failed to get back to cover in time.
Apart from the incidents reported in the article, Reguilon also made his feelings clear to Giovani Lo Celso after the final whistle as the Argentine wasted a golden opportunity late in the game, ignoring obvious passes to Kane and the left-back.
All in all, it certainly appears as if the Tottenham stars are much more willing to call each other out on their mistakes than in previous seasons.
