Wigan Warriors • Season Summary
A very, very up and down season culminating in on of the best defensive spectacles from 2 teams i have ever seen. Lots of false dawns from us in games, Huddersfield away and Catalans away spring to mind only to turn in performances like Salford and Hull KR but as per usual the Wigan mentality of getting geared up for the finals push showed through and our performances improved week after week post lockdown. The emergence of Havard, Shorrocks and Byrne are huge plus points to go with the lads who broke through last year (Partington and Smithies) Kilner hopefully the next one.
Massive cause for optimism next season with out attack and defence strengthened in one hit with the signing of Sir John Bateman allowing Isa (hopefully) to move to loose forward. Jai Field comes into an already very speedy spine and Harry Smith will make big strides next season.
I was seething after the Hull KR defeat but on reflection of the season i am happy with the progress made. I think we look to be incredibly strong next term. I don't think i have ever seen any of the Saints signings play so whether they are the same or not i dont know.
There is however a massive elephant in the room........................................... Geroge Burgess.
