Coronavirus: Police warn against public gatherings
Police on Friday reminded the public that a decree banning public gatherings remains in force and warned that those found breaking it will be reported or taken to court.
The decree prohibits gatherings, demonstrations, parades, concerts, outdoor festivals and will remain in force until midnight November 30.
Police said they are continuing checks to ensure the faithful implementation of the decree. Those found to be in breach or violate the ban by promoting such events will be reported or a case will be brought against them, police said.
As part of their checks, police had summoned individuals identified on social media to warn them against participating in future demonstrations.
Four officers were slightly injured after a demo against coronavirus restrictions that was organised in Limassol earlier this month turned ugly, prompting the government to issue the decree.
“It is necessary to faithfully implement and comply with the decrees and recommendations of experts to contain the spread of the virus in our country,” police said.
