26/01/2021 to 02/02/2021 - VCC Mount Buffalo Jan/Feb 2021
19
Location: Mt Buffalo, Mt Buffalo National Park, VIC
Leader: Steve Toal
Details: For many climbers, the third main area of Victorian climbing, Mt Buffalo, is a big unknown. This alpine granite environment is a whole different experience to Arapiles or the Grampians, and thats part of the appeal that draws me there year after year. The plateau has a huge variety of single pitch climbs, as well as some of the best multi-pitch climbing in Victoria. The granite slabs and cracks make for thought provoking pitches. Some technique will be required! Mt Buffalo is the same distance from Melbourne as Mt Arapiles, but sees far less traffic due to the camping being much more restricted. The VCC has done the hard work of pre-booking two sites, so youre in with a chance! For those that have never been, the VCC web site has a copy of my Beginners Guide, dated 2014 but still will give you an idea https://vicclimb.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/bufftiV2_2014-01.pdf. This is an intermediate to advanced level trip. Not sure if youre novice, intermediate or advanced?Find your levelor contact the trip leader. Only 12 spaces in total are available.Prepayment for camping will be required to guarantee a space. Camping spaces are available for 7 nights from Tuesday, 26 January (Australia Day) until Tuesday, 2 February. Camping costs need to be paid in advance to secure your place. These arenon-refundablein the event of you not attending, or leaving early, unless you can be replaced. The cost of camping will be shared equitably amongst participants based on final numbers. If you are interested in joining our leaders, Steve and Paula Toal, on this trip, please email Steve as soon as possible. Preference will be given to participants attending for the full week.
