The nation’s favourite roast comprises roast potatoes, roast beef, carrots, yorkshire pudding, sweetcorn, stuffing, parsnips and lashings of gravy.
Tomato ketchup won the war of the sauces, with almost a tenth of Brits opting for it, beating bread sauce and mustard who only had 2 per cent of the vote.
However traditional vegetables such as cabbage, swerve, green beans and cauliflower lost out to sweetcorn, with a quarter of Brits switching it up.
According to the survey, conducted by ASDA, nearly a quarter of Brits admitted to never having cooked a roast – with almost half saying theirs was not as good as their parents or grandparents.
Whilst the traditional time to eat the family roast used to be 1pm, nowadays the majority of Brits eat their roasts later in the day, with a third eating their roasts later than 5pm.

Andrew Johnston, Innovation Chef at Asda said: ‘’Sunday Roasts are a quintessential part of British culture, yet the ingredients individuals opt for cause great debate!
“The beauty of a roast is there are no rules, and despite ingredients shifting with food trends over the years, the warmth and wholesomeness of the dish remains the same.
“It’s like a hug on a plate, something we could all do with right now.”
