Dodgers Win 2020 World Series
The Los Angeles Dodgers have won the 2020 World Series, beating the Tampa Bay Rays in six games.
This is the Dodgers’ first title since 1988, and comes after a stretch of winning the NL West in eight consecutive years, but coming up short every year until this one.
They cruised through the regular season with the best record in baseball. They quickly wiped out the Brewers in the two-game wild card series, then swept the Padres in the NLDS to advance to the NLCS, where they narrowly edged the Braves in seven games.
After a devastating collapse in game four of the World Series to even the series at two, the Dodgers regrouped and took the final two games to collect their first championship trophy in 32 years.
Starter Tony Gonsolin was shaky, but was taken out after 1 2/3 innings as the team bullpenned the rest of the way. Blake Snell was at the top of his game, but after allowing a one-out single to Austin Barnes in the sixth, he was surprisingly taken out by Kevin Cash after only 73 pitches. Nick Anderson allowed the Dodgers to take the lead and they never looked back.
Corey Seager took home the series MVP honors, batting .400 with a 1.256 OPS.
Julio Urias closed the door for the Dodgers, pitching the final 2 1/3 innings without allowing a baserunner.
Despite the fact that the Rays came up short, they still received a historic postseason from Randy Arozarena, who collected 10 homers including three in the World Series.
