I’m fed up with my cheating, hostile dad and want him out of my life completely
DEAR DEIDRE: MY dad complains because I don’t say “thank you” for the birthday cards he sends me but one card a year doesn’t make up for the hurt he has caused in the past five years.
He left mum for another woman after a year-long affair.
I am fed up with my dad and want him out of my life completely[/caption]As I was supportive of mum during the divorce, he got increasingly hostile and for a while he even blocked me on Facebook.
Friends saw his profile, though, and he went on holidays abroad with his new partner – this was pre-Covid – while messing mum about financially and causing us all more stress.
I am a guy of 21 and he is 47.
I am fed up with his moody texts.
I want him out of my life completely.

You can’t change your dad but you don’t have to let him get to you.
Let his messages roll off your back without responding to his complaints.
When you feel calmer, you could tell him why his attitude has upset you so much.
