The Alienist cast: Who stars in season 2 of the Netflix series?

THE Alienist is back with a new series which is set to be released on Netflix.

It was released on American network TNT in July 2020, but now UK fans will be able to sink their teeth into the new season on the giant streaming platform.

Who stars in season 2 of the Netflix series The Alienist?

Daniel Brühl as Laszlo Kreizler

Daniel Brühl will once again star as Dr Laszlo Kreizler in the new series of The Alienist.

The suave and sophisticated psychologist will get his team of detectives back together to solve a series of murders.

Brühl is a German-Spanish actor who has played Niki Lauda in Rush.

He revealed the second series was not always on the cards as he told NME: “So I didn’t think any further than that. But we all agree that we wouldn’t mind going back because we love each other so much and we love our characters.”

Luke Evans as John Moore

Luke Evans plays the journalist and newspaper illustrator John Moore.

In the news series John will be working for The New York Times and will help to solve several ritualistic child murders.

Luke is know for his appearance as Owen Shaw in Fast & Furious 6 and Gaston in Beauty and the Beast.

The actor has also launched a singing career and released an album in 2019 called At Last.

Dakota Fanning as Sara Howard

Sara Howard, who started as a young society woman and became a secretary, now has her own detective agency.

She completes the trio as she teams up with Laszlo and Moore once again.

Dakota has starred in films such as I Am Sam and War of the Worlds as a child, before going on to feature in the Twilight saga, The Runaways and Ocean’s 8.

Melanie Field as Bitsy Sussman

Melanie is a new addition of the cast as Bitsy Sussman.

Bitsy is Sara’s assistant at the detective agency.

Field recently played Sunrise in the second series of Netflix drama You as Sunrise Darshan Cummings and has also appeared in Florida Gils and Heathers.

Douglas Smith as Marcus Isaacson

Marcus has returned to play the young NYPD detective sergeant Marcus Isaacson.

Canadian actor Smith has also appeared in Big Little Lies and Big Love.

His mother was an actress and his father a producer, and Smith’s mother appeared in several films that his father produced during the 1980s.

Robert Ray Wisdom as Cyrus

Robert Ray Wisdom is back as well as Laszlo’s valet Cyrus in series two.

Robert will be recognised by fans from his many different roles such as Howard “Bunny” Colvin in The Wire and Norman “Lechero” St. John in Prison Break.

He’s appeared in other popular shows, which include HBO’s Ballers, Nashville, Chicago PD, and even a guest role in Law and Order: Special Victim’s Unit.

Matthew Shear as Lucius Isaacson

Matthew Shear is back and will play Marcus’ twin brother Detective Lucius Isaacson who also works for the NYPD.

Shear is best known for playing the role of Tony in Noah Baumbach’s Mistress America.

His latest projects came in 2019 when he featured in the films Cubby and Marriage Story.
