Major League Baseball will crown a new champion this October as the Tampa Bay Rays prepare to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2020 World Series.
Los Angeles entered the season with MLB's second-highest payroll and something to prove after falling short in the World Series two of the past three years. Tampa Bay has the third-lowest payroll in the league but an impressive roster of young stars led the team to the top seed in the American League.
MLB limited teams to a 60-game regular season schedule with 16 teams reaching the playoffs in September. A record number of teams played in the opening wild card round but the top seeds in each league ultimately reached the World Series.
Tampa Bay dispatched their division rival New York Yankees and the 2018 champion Houston Astros on their way to winning the American League pennant, while the Dodgers overcame a 3-1 series deficit to beat the Atlanta Braves in the National League Championship Series.
Unlike most seasons, the 2020 World Series teams will not host games in their home stadiums due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, all seven games will be played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. MLB used the same field for the NLCS, and plans to seat about 11,500 fans for each World Series game. Seats will not be available within 20 feet of player areas on the field, and masks are required for attendees.
How to watch the 2020 World Series
The 2020 World Series will air on Fox starting tonight, October 20. If you already pay for cable or satellite TV you can watch the World Series games via the Fox channel, Foxsports.com, or the Fox Now app. The Fox Now app is available on iOS and Android devices, as well as Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, Chromecast, and Xbox.
If you don't have an existing cable or satellite pay-TV provider, you can instead sign up for a live TV streaming service with access to Fox, like Hulu, FuboTV, AT&T TV, Sling TV, and YouTubeTV.
Of those options, Sling TV's Blue plan is the most affordable way to stream the World Series on Fox. Sling TV Blue is available for $30 a month and includes access to 45 channels. With that said, local Fox broadcasts are only available in select markets, so be sure to check if your location is supported before signing up. New Sling TV members can receive a free three-day trial.
Full 2020 World Series schedule

If necessary, the final game of the series will be played on October 28; last year Game seven of the World Series was held on October 30, so 2020's shortened season won't be running any later than usual.
