Mick was horrified earlier this month as Frankie tried to get him to see the truth about the abuse her mother inflicted upon him.
After Tina joked that Katy – Frankie’s mother – was ‘in love’ with Mick when he was just 12, the horrifying truth about the abuse dawned on Frankie.
Frankie then told Mick that he’d been sexually abused by Katy in care, but Mick continued to insist that it was just an affair.
Mick tells Shirley he was never there when he needed her[/caption]But next week’s episodes of EastEnders will see the past begin to haunt Mick.
The upcoming scenes will see Max offer Linda a lunch shift at the restaurant after hearing about her financial woes.
When Linda tells Mick about it, he snaps at her when she presses him for a response.
Linda later takes Max up on his offer.
Shirley shouts at Mick not to play the victim[/caption]Meanwhile, Tina berates Mick for snapping at Linda and after a heart-to-heart, assures him he’s a good dad.
Later, Shirley tries to talk to Mick at The Vic, but he snaps at her and tells her she was never there for him when he needed her.
Shirley is shocked and shouts back at Mick, telling him not to dare to play the victim.
Meanwhile, Sonia is unsure what to do with her new car.
Shirley offers to buy Sonia’s car from her[/caption]When Shirley offers to pay £3,000 for it, Mick is disgusted and points out it’s worth loads more.
When Mick and Sonia leave, Shirley takes the car keys.
The BBC soap has worked with SurvivorsUK and the NSPCCA on the abuse storyline to make sure Mick’s storyline is as accurate as possible.
Jon Sen, Executive Producer EastEnders revealed: “Viewers have always been aware that Mick spent many years in care, which has been the cause of his fractured relationship with Shirley but now the audience will discover just why Mick’s childhood has been so traumatic.
MORE FOR YOU
“This storyline will see Mick having to confront the demons of his past, something he has desperately tried to avoid for many years and face up to the realisation that he experienced abuse whilst he was in care.
“Our work with SurvivorsUK and NSPCC has been vital in informing and grounding Mick’s story very much in reality.
“We hope this storyline will help to challenge the perceptions, the stigma and the shame – particularly experienced by male survivors.”
