Wife reveals secret to happy marriage is living apart…for 17 years
A WIFE in a long-distance relationship with her husband for 17 years claims it has saved their marriage.
Theresa Dowsett saw Peter only on occasional weekends while he was working 370 miles away in Luxembourg.
But it spared Peter a stressful daily commute and helped their relationship over a rough patch.
Theresa, 65, had to raise their two boys alone as teenagers.
But she said: “Had he stayed commuting, God knows what would have happened to our marriage.
“It has done wonders us being apart.”
Peter barely saw his family when he made a three-hour daily round trip to London from Southend, Essex, to work.
The frustrations of commuting were making him unwell, so he took a three-month contract as a business analyst in Luxembourg.
