Naoya Inoue to arrive in the US in mid-October
It's fair to say this past weekend was an incredibly busy one for fight fans and certain stories were sadly overlooked due to the in ring action we were getting.
One of those was the reveal of Naoya Inoue's (19-0, 16) [井上 尚弥] preparation plans ahead of his bout with Jason Moloney (21-1, 18).
The IBF and WBA "Super" Bantamweight champion has made it clear that his training and focus is on preparing for the bout in Japan. This has included sparring with Keisuke Matsumoto (1-0, 1) [松本圭佑] and doing what is essentially high altitude training at the "Green Terrace" at the Ohashi Gym. This is essentially allowing Inoue to train at the equivalent of 3000M (or almost 10,000 feet), whilst keeping him in Yokohama.
Notably the plan is to leave Japan as late as possible, with the hoping of landing and then going straight in to isolation, having done the hard work to prepare in Japan. This means he is set to arrive in the US in mid-October, with the date being mentioned as October 18th, though it's unclear if that's Japan time or US time.
It seems the idea is to arrive in the US in near peak condition, and only make minor adjustments in the US.
Notably a recent picture of Inoue saw him looking incredibly tired at the Ohashi gym, and it may well be that he and his team are already looking to acclimatise to American time, allowing for the jet lag to essentially be accounted for before he leaves Japan.
For those wanting to see how training is going, the Ohashi Gym did release a video of Inoue training earlier today, which can be seen below.
