ANSF Batters Taliban in Several Parts of Afghanistan, Killing 35 Militants
Afghanistan – At least 35 Taliban are killed and 17 further wounded in clashes with Afghan Security Forces in the past 24 hours, security officials confirmed.
In central Ghazni province, at least six Taliban were killed and five other were wounded, after the Taliban carried an attack against security forces in the Landakhil area of Aab Band district on Saturday evening, according to local officials.
During clashes between the Taliban and security forces, “six Taliban were killed and five were wounded. Three motorcycles of the insurgents were also destroyed,” official said as TOLOnews quoted.
In Zabul province, “at least 15 Taliban were killed in an airstrike by Afghan air forces in the Shar-e-Safa district of the province,” said local security officials.
“The Taliban’s weapons and vehicles, including motorcycles, were also destroyed in the airstrike.”
In northern Samangan province, at least 14 Taliban were killed and 12 were wounded after the Taliban attacked police checkpoints in Dara-e-Sof district of the province, according to sources.
“The Taliban were engaged by security forces and most of the Taliban were killed in the supporting airstrike at the location,” officials said as reported by local media.
Official confirmed a number of Taliban commanders among the deaths, adding “the Taliban’s attack has been pushed back and the Taliban escaped after suffering heavy casualties.”
Meanwhile, at least three Afghan forces killed and further one wounded during a battle with Taliban in Dowlat Abad and Sherin Tagab districts of Faryab province, local authorities confirmed.
Abdul Karim Yourish, spokesman for the Faryab police, on a phone interview with Khaama Press said the incident occurred at around 3am in Dowlat Abad and Sherin Tagab districts of the province.
The Taliban did not immediately comment on the claim.
