Casimero clear betting favourite against Micah
This coming weekend we'll see WBO Bantamweight champion John Riel Casimero (29-4, 20) defending his title against unbeaten challenger Duke Micah (24-0, 19). On paper this is a really good looking match up, though looking a little bit deeper it's a massive step up in class for Micah and that appears to be shown in the odds.
The match has been priced up by bookies around the world though we suspect all the global bookies have something similar to the UK in terms of odds for this one.
In the UK Casimero is priced as a very, very clear betting favourite, with odds of 1/7 in favour of the Filipino slugger. Micah, in his first world title challenge, is a huge 96/17 whilst the draw has been priced at 25/1.
In regards to the method of victory the most likely outcome is seen a KO/TKO/DQ by Casimero, who is 9/20 to stop Micah. A decision for the Filipino is priced at 7/2. Interestingly a decision for Micah is priced at 15/2 whilst a KO/TKO/DQ for the challenger is available for a massive 14/1.
Given the odds of a Casimero stoppage it should be little surprise that the bookies do not expect this one to go the distance. In fact the bout is 1/3 to end early and 5/2 to go the distance.
As for how long this one is expected the go the over/under is set at 7.5. The over is priced at 10/11 whilst the under is priced at 4/5.
Whilst Casimero is the big favourite there are two things to consider. Casimero is inconsistent and can blow hot and cold, and Micah is an unknown quantity and may be able to show what he can really do in this big step up.
For fans wanting to watch this one it will be aired on Showtime PPV US and on Fite TV.
