“Sad for Dele” – Some Spurs fans share three-word reactions to win against Shkendija
Tottenham Hotspur endured a nervy night in Northern Macedonia to keep their Europa League campaign on track.
When Erik Lamela netted after just four minutes of action in the first half, many Spurs fans could have been forgiven for believing that they would have been in for a comfortable night.
While Spurs controlled the play during the first half, they were ineffective and disappointing in possession following the break.
Jose Mourinho’s side were punished after 55 minutes when Ben Davies’ failure to keep hold of possession saw Nafiu rifle a shot from distance beyond Joe Hart, who was making his competitive debut in the Spurs goal.
Mourinho decided to bring on Harry Kane, Giovani Lo Celso and Lucas Moura after watching his side back on level terms, with Dele Alli who was making his first appearance in three matches being one of the players who were taken off.
Goals from Heung-min Son and Harry Kane ensured there was no banana skin for Spurs to slip on.
It certainly was not a European classic from the North Londoners, but they have booked their play in the playoff round where they will face Maccabi Haifa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Here are how some Spurs fans reacted to the 3-1 victory.
