San Jose: 33-year-old woman killed in crash on Highway 101
SAN JOSE – A 33-year-old Los Gatos woman was killed in a crash on Highway 101 in South San Jose late Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported in southbound lanes north of Bernal Road about 11 p.m.
The CHP said the woman was driving a 2015 Honda in the No. 6 lane at a speed greater than 65 mph when she crossed into the No. 5 lane and hit the right side of a 2020 Honda. She then lost control of her car, traveled onto the west shoulder and crashed into a tree.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroners Office will release her identity once it has been confirmed and her next of kin is notified.
The driver of the 2020 Honda, described as a 23-year-old San Jose resident, remained at the scene, according to the CHP.
The CHP said it was not immediately known if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
