Donald Trump blasts Meghan Markle and says Prince Harry ‘is going to need a lot of luck’
Donald Trump has launched a blistering attack on Meghan Markle – and claimed her husband Prince Harry is going to need ‘a lot of luck.’ The President of the United States hit out at the Duchess of Sussex after she released a video pundits claim tacitly urges Americans to vote Joe Biden in as president.
Speaking at a White House press conference on Wednesday, Trump said: ‘I’m not a fan of hers and I would say this, and she probably has heard that, but I wish a lot of luck to Harry — he’s going to need it.’
Meghan – who is an American citizen – and her British husband released a video earlier this week branding the November 3 presidential election ‘the most important of our lifetime.’
That clip, filmed with Time magazine, saw the royal couple urge Americans to reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity,’ in an apparent swipe at Trump’s behavior. Famed feminist Gloria Steinem said earlier this week that Meghan had also been cold calling Americans to urge them to vote.
The former actress had been heavily critical of Trump before marrying Harry in May 2018, but maintained a more neutral political stance on becoming a member of the British royal family.
The regal clan, headed by Harry’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth, are famed for never sharing their political beliefs publicly in order to help foster diplomacy both within the UK and with governments of foreign countries, including the United States.
Trump is known to be a huge fan of Queen Elizabeth, and rhapsodized about meeting the monarch during a state visit to the UK in 2019, and a less formal trip the year before.
Harry and Meghan – who are parents to one year-old Archie – dramatically announced their intention to quit the royal family earlier this year and pursue a career as entertainment producers and activists.
The couple, who have since moved to a $15million mansion in Santa Barbara, California, recently signed a $150million deal with entertainment giant Netflix to produce TV shows and movies.
They have expressed a desire to live a more private life, away from the scrutiny faced by other publicly-funded members of the royal family.
But critics say the couple are trying to get the best of both worlds by hanging onto the royal titles which bring in lucrative offers of work.
