Quakes, sinking fast, are blown out again, this time at Colorado
What’s happened to the Earthquakes?
San Jose was blown out for the second straight game, this time 5-0 at the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday night.
On Saturday, the Quakes lost 6-1 to the Portland Timbers, an 11-1 aggregate over the past two games.
After a good showing at the MLS Is Back tournament in Florida in July, San Jose (2-6-5) is winless in its past eight games and has been outscored 28-7 during that stretch.
Wednesday night was the fifth time this season the Quakes had given up at least five goals, the most in a season by an MLS team in history despite playing only 13 games.
Cole Bassett, 19, and Jonathan Lewis each scored for the second straight game for Colorado.
The Rapids (5-4-4), who had two wins and scored 12 goals in their first nine games this season, have scored 11 times, with three wins, in the four games since then.
