Amanda Kloots reveals she’s making pottery out of late husband Nick Cordero’s ashes after Broadway star died from Covid
AMANDA Kloots has revealed she has is making pottery out of the ashes of her late husband, Broadway star Nick Cordero.
Nick passed away in early July after a months-long battle with coronavirus.
Now, nearly three months after his death Amanda has revealed that she and their son Elvis have found a way to “keep him living”, through the pottery.
“Elvis and I had a special afternoon today,” she shared on social media, alongside a picture of the two at the pottery wheel.
“I have recently learned how many ways you can repurpose ashes and make new things with them. I think it is beyond beautiful, a way to keep him living!”
Amanda revealed that her friend who ran a pottery business had never incorporated ashes in to her work but “wanted to try, to create a piece that Elvis and I could help with and have forever.”
The ashes were mixed with the clay and then Amanda and Elvis “got our hands wet and put our hands into the clay to make our imprints on the piece”, which Amanda shared will become a vase.
“This was so incredible and really felt special. A way to turn something sad into something joyful,” she added.

“I think it’s so beautiful what you can do with ashes to keep someone you love alive.”
Nick spent 91 days at the medical facility fighting the virus, and Amanda kept the public updated in his journey with regular social media posts.
He was initially misdiagnosed with pneumonia before eventually testing positive for coronavirus.
Prior to his death, he had many complications due to the illness, including a lung infection, low blood pressure and issues with blood flow to his leg which led to amputation.
But on July 6 Amanda posted a black-and-white photo of her late husband, and shared: “God has another angel in heaven now.
“My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth.
“I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere. My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him. Nick was such a bright light.”
Nick was a Tony Award-nominated actor whose Broadway credits included Rock of Ages and Waitress.
His nomination at the 2014 Tonys was for his performance in the jukebox musical Bullets Over Broadway, in which he portrayed the character of Cheech.
It was on the set of this musical that he met his wife Amanda, who was also working on the show.

The two got married in September 2017 and welcomed son Elvis two years later.
Onscreen, he had roles in movies like 2011’s Don Juan and 2017’s Going in Style and in shows like Blue Bloods and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Members of the theater community, as well others working in the entertainment industry, sent their love and sympathy to Amanda after hearing of her husband’s death.
Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted: “Devastating, What a loss, what a light. Whole heart with Amanda and his family tonight.”
