Intimate drive-in concert series brings live music to Carmel
Drive-in concerts are coming to Carmel.
The Sunset Cultural Center in Carmel-by-the-Sea has launched a new outdoor drive-in concert series, dubbed Sunset Presents: Live From the Lot, which kicks off with accordion master Andre Thierry on Oct. 3-4.
The Grammy-nominated zydeco artist is performing four shows in all — two per day. Show times are 3 and 7 p.m.
Tickets are $65 per vehicle, with up to four 4 adult passengers allowed per vehicle, and go on sale at noon Sept. 23 at www.sunsetcenter.org.
The concerts are held at the Sunset Center’s main parking lot, located on the north side of the building on 8th Avenue between San Carlos and Mission streets, and will run 75 minutes each. These will be intimate affairs, as admission is limited to 40 vehicles per show.
The venue will host drive-in concerts each weekend in October (except for Halloween weekend). Thus far, however, these shows with Thierry are the only ones that have been announced.
Music lovers will watch the shows “in and adjacent their vehicle, while being entertained by stellar artistic talent via an outdoor sound system,” according to a news release.
Food and beverages will be sold at the shows.
