Halloween 2020: 4 Bay Area haunted attractions to spook you
Like everything else during this surreal year, Halloween is likely to be a different, more home-based celebration this fall. That said, a few Bay Area haunted houses are still planning to offer thrills and chills via drive-thru or other social-distanced options. Here are a few possibilities — but check before you go to make sure circumstances have not changed.
PLEASANTON
Pirates of Emerson Haunted Theme Park Drive Thru: This venerable scare-fest is offering drive-thru frights by reservation Thursday-Sunday from Oct. 2 through Nov. 1 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton. Standard cars only — no pedestrians, motorcycles, bicycles, RVs, golf carts, top-down convertibles or passengers in the bed of a pickup. (7’6” maximum height clearance.) SACRAMENTO
Ultimate Terror Scream Park: This haunted house park, which includes Voodoo Bayou, Midnight Asylum and House of Undead areas, is planning to be open on designated days from Sept. 25 through Nov. 1 at 4909 Auburn Blvd., Sacramento. SAN JOSE
Dead Time Dreams: Expect an open-air, immersive haunted attraction — Horror Alley — this year, plus a Midway of Terror to entertain you before and after. Open from 7:30 p.m. to midnight Oct. 16-18, 22-25 and 28-31 at 2501 Tully Road in San Jose. $20-$30. www.deadtimedreams.com/home
