Gareth Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, has now given a new interview to Sky Sports News regarding the future of his client.
Over the past 24 hours, Bale has been heavily linked with a return to Tottenham, the club he left for Real Madrid seven years ago.
Barnett revealed to BBC Wales yesterday that Bale still loves Tottenham, the club at which he spent six seasons, and now wants to make a return to North London.
The Welshman’s agent has now claimed that there is reason to believe a deal is close between Spurs and Madrid, while admitting that there is a long way to go on some issues.
Not only this, but Barnett also revealed that Bale has already spoken directly with Jose Mourinho, with the winger telling the head coach that Spurs hold a special place in his heart.
Barnett said (Sky Sports): “There’s a long way to go on some issues, but without doubt Gareth is closer to leaving Madrid than at any time in last seven years.
“The deal is complicated, but there’s reason to believe a deal is close and things could move very quickly if discussions continue to go well.
“Gareth has spoken to Jose and explained how Spurs have a special place in his heart.”
Bale scored 55 goals in 203 games for Tottenham between 2007 and 2013 before making a transfer record move to Real Madrid and winning four Champions League titles (Wikipedia).
