Jonathan Barnett provides crucial update on Gareth Bale return
Gareth Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett, has confirmed to AFP that the Welshman is closing in on a sensational return to Tottenham, but described the deal as complicated and not done just yet.
We relayed a story from BBC Sport Wales on Tuesday in which Barnett revealed Bale’s love for Spurs and his desire to one day move back to north London.
He said: “It’s where he wants to be.”
David Ornstein then confirmed earlier today that talks were ongoing between Tottenham and Madrid, but couldn’t confirm whether it’ll be a season-long loan deal or on a permanent basis – with AFP’s Spanish correspondent Tom Allnutt reporting that the La Liga champions are pushing for the latter.
The Athletic reporter also believes that Madrid are willing to pay half of Bale’s £600,000-a-week wages to make the transfer possible.
All three parties remain confident that it will be completed, but according to Dan Kilpatrick, Dele Alli won’t be heading the other way despite the Telegraph reporting on Tuesday that the England man could be involved as part of the deal to bring Bale back to Spurs.
