Paper Talk: Arsenal plot huge £85m double coup; Everton trio to leave
Arsenal could offload five stars to help fund an impressive £85m double raid, while three big-name players are set to be shown the door by Carlo Ancelotti at Everton, according to Wednesday’s paper gossip.
PARTEY, AOUAR ON ARSENAL MENU
Arsenal are still planning to add more players to their squad and plan to sign BOTH Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar before the window shuts.
The Gunners have invested wisely this summer. Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes are among their new arrivals and the pair got off to a good start at Fulham.
However, their biggest ‘coup’ arrived on Tuesday when captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang committed to a new deal.
According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal managed to convince Auba to stay by convincing him of their ambitious transfer plans.
The Gunners have been linked with both Atletico star Thomas and Lyon playmaker Aouar. Until now, it was thought a deal for either would stretch Arsenal’s resources and might be beyond them.
However, the paper claims Arsenal actually plan to sign both and are hopefully of an ambitious £85m double swoop.
That’s mainly because the club are hopeful of a £75m cash influx with Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira, Sead Kolasinac, Shkodran Mustafi and Emiliano Martinez poised to leave.
Furthermore, the Mirror believes Lyon will accept a £40m offer for playmaker Aouar. The France star may have played his last game for the club after being shown a straight red card in their 2-1 defeat to Montpellier in Monday’s Ligue 1 opener.
A deal for Ghanaian powerhouse Partey, looks slightly more straightforward. The player has a €50m (£45m) exit clause in his deal, which Atletico have refused to budge on.
However, the paper now believes Arsenal will meet the price after deciding he’d be a vital addition to their midfield.
Meanwhile, The Independent claims Alexandre Lacazette will follow Aubameyang in signing a new contract at Emirates Stadium.
The France striker was expected to be sold this summer, but it’s now claimed Mikel Arteta has decided to hand him a new three-year deal.
