Viewers have watched both parents struggle to come to terms with Oliver’s illness in the wake of his diagnosis.
This week, Leanne found herself suddenly unable to talk about Oliver’s illness when an old friend asked after him.
The grieving mum was left kicking herself and feeling overwhelmed with shame and guilt after making out that he’s doing fine.
Next week’s episodes of Corrie will see a fraught Steve call in the cafe for a sausage roll.
But when Nina explains that they’re having a vegetarian day, Steve storms out before returning to wave around a packet of sausages.
Meanwhile, Toyah meets up with the social worker, who promises to go ahead with the fostering plan as soon as she receives the reference from Leanne.
Later, Leanne is shocked when she arrives at the cafe to find Steve making a scene and protesting about vegetarian day from behind the counter.
Realising it must be due to the situation with Oliver, Leanne pulls him out of the cafe and takes him back to hers.
Steve is grateful for her support when she lets him know that he can always talk to her.
Speaking about the storyline following Oliver’s diagnosis, actress Jane Danson told Hot TV: “Given what she’s being told by the doctors, she can’t escape how serious this is now.
