Demi Lovato tells fans how Naya Rivera can be found ‘healthy and alive’
Demi Lovato believes that if her Twitter followers “manifest” enough positive “energy” they can create a reality in which Naya Rivera will be found “healthy and alive” after she vanished during a boating trip with her 4-year-old son Wednesday.
Lovato tweeted out her idea for Rivera’s “safe” return late Thursday afternoon, hours after authorities announced that the “Glee” star, 33, was “presumed dead” after likely drowning at Lake Piru in Ventura County Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities Thursday also said their search-and-rescue mission had shifted to a recovery mission, while explaining that Rivera’s son, Josey Dorsey, said his mother did not return to the boat after going for a swim.
But Lovato apparently believes in the power of positive thinking across Twitter, saying that sometimes “my tweets come true.” She wrote:
I don’t tweet often but sometimes my tweets come true so, together let’s manifest on twitter that Naya will be found safe and sound!! Come on y’all! Let’s put this energy out there: they will find her healthy and alive!!

Some may say that Lovato is engaging in magical thinking with this post. It also was the singer’s third post about Rivera’s disappearance, People reported. On her Instagram story, Lovato first asked people to pray for Rivera to be found “safe and sound” and then again asked for prayers and said, “Nothing is impossible with God.”
Lovato and Rivera became friends when Lovato starred opposite Rivera on the fifth season of “Glee,” playing Dani, a recurring character who was a love interest for Rivera’s Santana Lopez.

A number of Lovato’s Twitter followers agreed to try her idea of “manifesting” positive energy across the platform.
“Naya Rivera will be found alive and healthy. Naya Rivera will be found alive and healthy. Naya Rivera will be found alive and healthy. Naya Rivera will be found alive and healthy,” was a common reply to Lovato’s tweet.
A skeptical follower harshly wrote, “She’s already gone. Hang it up, flatscreen,” to which someone replied, “Stop” and another said, “No, you know what’s gone? Your ability to reason and sympathize.”
More people continued to write multiple times, “Naya Rivera will be found alive and healthy. Naya Rivera will be found alive and healthy.” Someone also wrote, “Thank you for manifesting positive energy.”
Others on social media, independent of Lovato, expressed their belief Friday that Rivera would be found alive. In their posts, they included hashtags such as #FindNaya and #PrayforNaya.

People magazine furthermore reported that Rivera’s “Glee” co-stars, Heather Morris and Harry Shum Jr., had earlier expressed hope that Rivera would be found soon.
Unfortunately for Rivera, Lovato and their fans, authorities Thursday laid out their reasons for why they presume Rivera is dead.
Ventura County Sheriff’s officials shared CCTV footage of Rivera and her son arriving at Lake Piru at about 1 p.m. Wednesday and boarding their pontoon boat, which she rented for three hours. The video shows the boat heading out onto the lake.

After the boat failed to return to the dock, staff at the lake went looking for Rivera and her pontoon. A 911 caller reported finding the boat, but with just Josey aboard, the Daily Mail reported.
A volunteer diver helping with the search explained the reasons it might be difficult to find a body. Max O’Brien told reporters that the combing of Lake Piru’s bottom is done mostly by touch since the visibility is so low, People reported.
“The visibility is about 1 to 2 feet,” O’Brien said. “There’s a lot of tree branches and overgrowth from when the lake was lower, so we’re digging through, breaking through sticks and searching a heavy brush bottom.”
“Under the water, it’s a lot by feel,” he explained. “Again, there’s a lot of shrubbery and sticks that we have to break through as we’re going through, so it’s kind of a Braille search.”
