Templegate’s Horse Racing Tips: Newmarket and York live on ITV – betting preview for Thursday’s racing
NEWMARKET
LORD CAMPARI was impressive when scoring by almost five lengths on comeback at Newbury last time. He went from the front there and the second home has franked the form. That was just his second run so there should be more to come.

Al Suhail will find this a lot easier than the 2,000 Guineas where he was down the field last time. He did well last season when on the podium in a couple of Group races. This trip suits and he may have needed that Classic comeback.
Mystery Power won the red-hot Superlative Stakes on his last visit to the July Course at last year’s Festival. If he sees out this mile, he’ll be right there.
Magical Morning has chances of a hat-trick after a gutsy success at Doncaster latest. He needs a bit more but John Gosden’s colt could easily find it.
AL AASY had no fewer than ten lengths to spare when cruising to victory on the Rowley Mile last time. He quickened nicely and should appreciate this longer trip.
Dawn Rising comes over from Aidan O’Brien after hammering a field of maidens at Limerick. He is a son of Galileo so will have no stamina worries.
Al Dabaran was behind future Irish Derby winner Santiago in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot on his first crack at this sort of distance. He saw it out well enough and will find these waters calmer.
Miss Yoda won the Lingfield Oaks Trial but was poor in the Ribblesdale. She has something to prove now but it’s telling that John Gosden is upping her in distance, which may help, while Damage Control didn’t have much to beat at Chepstow but he did it nicely and has more to offer.
TACTICAL gave the Queen a Royal Ascot winner in the Windsor Castle Stakes and can follow up. He showed plenty of pace to take that contest over the minimum trip but has some stamina in his pedigree so should see out the extra furlong.
The second home that day, Yazaman, could be the biggest threat as he’ll definitely relish going up in distance.
Qaader was a good second in the Coventry Stakes, which is usually a stronger contest than the Windsor Castle. That was just his second run so he should improve and is already proven to stay.
Swiss Ace comes from Ballydoyle having won a Tipperary maiden without coming off the bridle. He should take a big step forward from that, while Victory Heights has a live place chance after getting blocked when fourth at Royal Ascot.
BYLINE chased home Brad The Brief on his return at Haydock last month and can reverse the form thanks to 5lb pull in the weights. That’s before the excellent Megan Nicholls takes off her allowance and Kevin Ryan’s three-year-old looks capable of better.
Meraas hammered his rivals when scoring at Pontefract on the back of a convincing all-weather success. He has a lot more to offer and is likely to blaze off in front.
Dancin Inthestreet was a cracking third in one of those hot Royal Ascot handicaps when not getting the clearest of runs. Young Cieren Fallon is big value for the 3lb he takes off.
Lexington Dash has landed a couple of small contests on the Rowley Mile and has every chance under a penalty. Exceptional didn’t get the run of the race when third there last time. The drop back from seven furlongs should help his chances.
ALOUNAK gets the nod in a wide-open Group 2. He has been a real globetrotter but did well on just his second start for Andrew Balding when chasing home Fanny Logan in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot. This trip is ideal and he should be spot on for fitness now.
Old Persian would win this at his best but he was badly out of sorts when last at St Cloud 11 days ago. He needs the first-time cheekpieces to work wonders.
Enbihaar looks a bigger threat after winning three times in this class last season. She signed off with a close third in a Longchamp Group 1 in October and goes well fresh.
Communique won this 12 months ago and could bounce back, although he was well beaten by the tip last time, while Antonia De Vega dug deep to win a Pontefract Listed race last month but needs more in this company.

YORK
BLACKBERRY looks a fair price in this tricky contest. She got the job done nicely on debut at Hamilton last time and the time of the race looks decent. This step up in class looks fair enough.
Sardinia Sunset is coming down in grade after an excellent fourth in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot last month. This is a simpler task than that and she was up with the pace for a long way in that Group 2. She should be right there.
Furlong Factor didn’t have a lot to beat at Chepstow last time but did it well and could easily outrun her odds.
Country Carnival arrives on the back of a decent success at Beverley where she pulled well clear, while Different Face is another who caught the eye when scoring on the all-weather at Lingfield and could progress.
RICETTA can win the battle of the Khalid Abdullah pair. She clocked a good time when winning at Newmarket on debut and came back with another cosy success at the same track last time out. There’s a lot more to come.
The other runner in the pink and green, Pocket Square, has won on fast and testing ground and was impressive in France last time. She looks a big threat.
Pick of the others appears to be Dubai Love who was a close third at Royal Ascot latest. She steps out of handicap company but has more to offer and looks a certain stayer.
Baarrij could be a big price after a solid victory at Windsor 11 days ago. She looks the type to improve now tackling further than a mile, while Rose Of Kildare wasn’t disgraced at Epsom last week and is worth a market check.
HIGHEST GROUND has the potential to go a long way for Sir Michael Stoute. He turned over the fancied Waldkonig in battling style at Haydock last time when seeing out this trip really strongly. This son of Frankel should improve for that seasonal comeback and just his second outing.
Cormorant won the Derrinstown Derby Trial for Aidan O’Brien latest and is respected although he did get the run of that race. He has swerved the Classics to come here and looks the main danger.
Al Madhar won a novice contest at Newbury with plenty in hand last month coming back from a year off. He should take a big step forward from that and has place prospects.
Juan Elcano didn’t seem to stay this far at Royal Ascot after a good fifth in the Guineas, while Thunderous was a solid second in a Newmarket Listed contest on comeback and will be fitter for the run.
