‘C’mon release the damn sports report’: Lambie
Jacqui Lambie has urged the government to “release the damn” sports rorts review, amid new scrutiny over the prime minister’s office’s involvement in the scandal.
On Wednesday it was revealed 136 emails were exchanged between then sport’s minister Bridget McKenzie’s office and the prime minister's office.
A Senate inquiry into the saga on Thursday morning also revealed Sport Australia expressed concern over the program on two occasions.
Now, the Tasmanian independent senator wants the report, written by the head of the prime minister’s department, released – or she could withhold her support for the government’s union-busting bill.
“They need to find their conscience and do the right thing and release that damn report,” she told Sky News.
“Honestly, I can’t believe that we’re arguing, they want to fix [the union-busting bill] over here but won’t fix their own law and order over here. C’mon, it’s enough. Show some leadership, do the right thing, and release the report.
“I’m not at all comfortable on putting integrity on [the unions] when the government won’t put integrity on themselves.”
